Black Tea vs. Green Tea: Differences Between the Teas

As a result, the leaves of black tea are a deep shade of brown or black.
Polyphenols: Since all teas come from plants, they all have polyphenols in them. Polyphenols are natural chemicals that include flavonoids like catechins, tannins, and theaflavins. Green tea and black tea, on the other hand, have different types of polyphenols and different amounts of them. For instance, black tea has more theaflavins, which make it red, and green tea has more epigallocatechin gallate, or EGCG, which is the most common catechin in tea.
